I personally love Genshin Impact. I have played since launch. It is a phenomenal game with an amazing world and story. People complain about the "predatory nature" of it, but honestly, it really isn't. I've played gatcha games that are predatory. The monetization in Genshin is tame compared to most. I get that it's not for everyone though and I agree that there are a lot of people in the community that are just toxic.

Hades is a much better game but StS has the kind of unlimited replayability that very few roguelites are able to capture.

At 10k+ you just bust out the sub only discord and just read that.

I think what's really telling about StS quality is that it's persisted purely on gameplay being amazing. Visually it hasn't gotten any insane animation or art changes as far as I'm aware, and no unreal engine 5 esque updates, just things like adding A20 and the Heart as major examples. People just love the gameplay that much that it's felt timeless, no need for hyper-realistic graphics and DLC to keep it alive

Accessibility is what lets it get to so many audiences. It’s both amazingly complex yet it can be played with very few inputs by the user. Also it being available on almost all major platforms means there’s definitely more people playing it concurrently that we can’t see on the steam charts
